    UNIZIK VC INAUGURATES 31-MEMBER COMMITTEE FOR ALUMNI CONVERGE 2.0, AS NAUAA GLOBAL PRESIDENT URGES SUCCESSFUL OUTING.

    The Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Prof. Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie, has inaugurated a 31-member committee to drive the successful execution of the 2026 Alumni Converge 2.0 of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Alumni Association.

    At the inauguration ceremony, held at the Senate Chambers of the University, the committee was charged with the responsibility of delivering a memorable and impactful convergence for both alumni and the institution.

    The committee is chaired by Prof. Evaristus Afiadigwe, with Comrade Obi Okeke serving as Co-Chairman, while Dr. Kobimdi Umeh is the Secretary. Other notable members include Comrade Odogwu Emeka Odogwu, PhD, Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, alongside a distinguished array of academics and professionals.

    In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor emphasized the strategic importance of the Alumni Converge, noting that the stature of any university is closely tied to the achievements and global standing of its alumni. He urged the committee to deliver a convergence that will significantly enhance the image and development of the University.
    Prof. Anyaehie assured the committee of the full support of his administration, reiterating his commitment to strengthening alumni relations as a critical pillar of institutional advancement.

    He also commended the Global President of NAUAA, Prof. Ikechukwu Innocent Umeh, for his dedication and leadership, and encouraged him and his executive team to sustain their efforts in mobilizing alumni support for the growth of the University.

    Speaking earlier, Prof. Umeh called on committee members to approach their assignment with unity, creativity, and a strong sense of responsibility. He stressed that the success of Alumni Converge 2.0 would depend largely on teamwork and the effective harnessing of the vast goodwill within the UNIZIK alumni network.

    “The Alumni Association remains a vital pillar in the continued growth and advancement of our great alma mater,” he stated.

    Membership of the committee cuts across notable Nigerians from diverse professional backgrounds. Members include Prof. Anthony Apiti, Dr. Ikenna Uba, Dr. Gerald Abonyi, Dr. Kizito Okonkwo, Dr. Frank Udemadu, Prof. Nwachukwu Obiakor, Dr. Kelechi Ezeani, Mr. Ishiekwene Ikechukwu, Mrs. Uju Salawe, and Dr. Azaka Onyemazuwa, among others.

    Additional members are Austin Ezejiofor, Dr. Chinedu Nwankwo, Surv. Dr. Chuks, Mrs. Mma Nwadike, Martins Onyekonwu, Chief Davison Oriahi, Prof. Gideon Ezu, Mr. Obinna Anosike, Comrade Jerome Okorpo, Dr. Chika Nnabuife, as well as Chief Okwy Umeadi, Raymond Nwagu, Mr. Oseloka Ekwuno, Mrs. Obiajulu Ajugasia, Mr. Okechukwu Nwankwo, Captain Casmir Nwafor, Charles Ijeomah, and Izuchukwu Francis Ejikeme.

    The Alumni Converge 2.0 is expected to serve as a major platform for fostering stronger engagement between the University and its global alumni community, while advancing strategic development initiatives for the institution.
