Vice-Chancellor Inspects Abandoned UNIZIK Sports Stadium, Calls for Urgent Upgrade.

On Thursday, March 26, 2026, the Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Prof. Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie, undertook an inspection of the University’s long-abandoned Sports Stadium.

During the tour of the sports complex, the Vice-Chancellor expressed deep concern over the deteriorating condition of the facility. Visibly displeased, he emphasized the urgent need for intervention, noting that the current state of the stadium falls short of the standards expected of a leading institution.

Prof. Anyaehie highlighted the importance of attracting investors and strategic partners to support the redevelopment and modernization of the stadium. He stressed that revitalizing the facility would not only restore its lost glory but also position the University as a hub for sporting excellence.

Reaffirming his commitment to sports development, the Vice-Chancellor noted that improved infrastructure would significantly boost the performance and morale of the University’s athletes, paving the way for greater achievements in local and national competitions.
