    The Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Prof. Bond Ugochukwu Stanley Anyaehie, recently, received the U.S. Consulate General’s Public Affairs Officer, Julie McKay, on a courtesy visit to his office.
    The visit, facilitated by the Director, Awka Window on America (AWA), Prof. I.K. Odimegwu, described the growing partnership between the university and the United States.
    Prof. Odimegwu provided background on the AWA, established in 2018 and commissioned in 2021. He described the centre as a critical resource for skills acquisition and cultural exchange, operating on three levels: as a Consulate-sponsored centre, a Congress-supervised corner, and a jointly supervised initiative.
    He introduced Julie McKay as an official with over 25 years of experience in cultural affairs and expressed confidence that the relationship would significantly benefit the university’s development.
    In her remarks, the Public Affairs Officer, Julie McKay, expressed her pleasure at visiting Awka for the first time and commended the AWA leadership. She thanked the University management for its “full-right partnership” and announced plans to bring American experts to the university to promote upcoming Fulbright Specialist Programs.
    Responding, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Anyaehie welcomed the visitor and drew a historical parallel, noting that the university’s namesake, Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, was himself a product of American Education. He expressed hope for the Consulate’s support in promoting the university’s postgraduate programs through online studies.
    The Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor, (Co-ordinating) Prof. Osisioma Hilda and Mr. Victor I. Modebelu, Deputy Registrar, General Admin. witnessed the visit, other members in attendance were the Alumni Co-ordinator, Wunmi Onome-Hukpe; the Education Outreach Co-ordinator, Gbadebo; the country strategic communications specialist and the American Spaces Programme Co-ordinator, Timilayo Famutimi; and the established opinion leader specialist, Clemson Ayegbusi.
