Areas of Specialization:

• Animal Production and Management; (ii) Animal Breeding and Genetics/Biotechnology; (iii) Animal Nutrition and Biochemistry; (iv) Animal Physiology and Biotechnology.

O’level

5 O’ level credits to include English Language, Maths, Chemistry and Biology/Agricultural Science in not more than two sittings. Pass in Maths may be considered if the candidate has a credit in Physics or vice versa. The 5 credits must be obtained in not more than 2 sittings. A credit pass in Agricultural Science must be backed up with at least a pass in Biology.

Postgraduate Diploma (PGD)

1. The candidate must be a graduate of Nnamdi Azikiwe University or a recognized University with at least a Third Class degree in or a minimum of lower Credit in the Higher National Diploma, HND, from a recognized Institution in Agriculturally oriented courses like Animal Production/Animal Sciences/Health, Wildlife/Fisheries, etc.

Master’s Degree (MSc)

1. The candidate must have a first degree in Animal Science with an FCGPA of not less than 2.50 from Nnamdi Azikiwe University or a recognized University
2. A candidate with a Postgraduate Diploma in Animal Science with an FCGPA of not less than 3.00 may also be admitted provided the University Matriculation requirements are satisfied

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Degree

A candidate who holds a master’s degree in a relevant discipline with an FCGPA not less than 3.50 on a 5 Point Scale or an average of 60%, from Nnamdi Azikiwe University or a recognized University may be admitted provided the University Matriculation requirement is satisfied
