DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHOLOGY ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

O’level

5 O’ level credits to include English Language, Mathematics, Biology or Health Science and any other 2 subjects obtained at not more than two sittings.

Master’s Degree (MSc)

  1. The candidate must have a first degree in Psychology with an FCGPA of not less than 2.5 from Nnamdi Azikiwe University or a recognized University
  2. A candidate with a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychology with an FCGPA of not less than 3.00 may also be admitted provided the University Matriculation requirements are satisfied

Masters Degree MSc, M.EAP in Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)

The candidate must have a first degree in Psychology, Sociology, Guidance and Counselling, Social work, Nursing, Public Health or any allied field of behavioural sciences with an FCGPA of not less than 2.5 from Nnamdi Azikiwe University or a recognized University. Applicants with work experience in strategic human resource management-related professions are also encouraged to apply.

 

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Degree

A candidate who holds a master’s degree in Psychology with an FCGPA not less than 3.50 on a 5 Point Scale or an average of 60%, from Nnamdi Azikiwe University or a recognized University may be admitted provided the University Matriculation requirement is satisfied

 

MASTER’S DEGREE PROGRAMME IN ADDICTION INTERVENTION

          Two master’s degree qualifications are designed to be obtained in the programme.

  1. 1. Master of Science Degree in Addiction Intervention (academic). This is a research-based degree that can lead to a doctoral programme if the candidate meets the final cumulative grade point average of 2.5 on a 5-point scale grading system.
  2. Professional Master’s Degree in Addiction Intervention. This is a terminal degree .

Admission into Master of Science Degree in Addiction Intervention

  1. Admission into the Master of Science Degree in Addiction of Nnamdi Azikiwe University include O’ level credit passes in English language, Mathematics, Biology and any other two subjects obtained from recognized institutions including west African Examinations Council or its equivalent in not more than two sittings.
  2. Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology with a final cumulative grade point average of not less than 2.5 on a 5 point scale grading system obtained from Nnamdi Azikiwe University or any other duly recognized institution.

 

 Admission into Professional Master’s Degree in Addiction Intervention.

  1. Admission requirements into the Professional Master’s Degree in Addiction Intervention of Nnamdi Azikiwe University include O’ level credit passes in English language, Mathematics, Biology and any other two subjects obtained from recognized institutions including West African Examinations Council or its equivalent in not more than two sittings.
  2. Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology, Sociology, Guidance and Counselling, Employee Assistance Programme, Medical Social Work, Nursing, other biomedical or behavioral sciences, Occupational therapy, obtained from Nnamdi Azikiwe University or its recognized equivalent with a final cumulative grade point average of not less than 2.5 on a 5-point scale grading system. Holders of Fellowship of Nigerian College of Psychiatry or its equivalent can be admitted into the programme and other persons in the category
