Ag. Vice-Chancellor Inaugurates Security Task Force

Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Joseph Ikechebelu, has inaugurated a special task force on security to develop a roadmap for addressing campus security issues, aligning with his short-term BLESSeD initiative for a Safe and Secure Unizik.

The inauguration took place on Friday, June 21, 2024, in the Ag. Vice-Chancellor’s Conference Room.

Prof. Ikechebelu, during the inauguration, tasked the committee with reviewing the University’s security architecture, ensuring security across all campuses and premises, and recommending solutions.

While encouraging them to be resilient, the Acting Vice-Chancellor emphasized that the members of the task force were selected for their outstanding and proven experience and dedication.

The members include Professor Jaja Nwanegbo (Chairman), Mr. Ken Chukwurah, Mr. Chigozie Ikegulu, Mr. Solomon Ifesi, Mr. Sam Nwagbo, Alex Anene, Esq, and Barr. Obinna Okeke.

In response, Committee Chairman, Professor Nwanegbo expressed gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor for the opportunity to serve. He conveyed the Committee’s enthusiasm and commitment to addressing the issues outlined in the terms of reference.

“We are confident that with God’s help, we will approach these issues dispassionately and develop an effective roadmap for tackling insecurity in the University,” said Professor Nwanegbo.
