GOVERNMENT URGED TO ADOPT A BITWISE APPROACH TOWARDS WORKABILITY OF E-LEARNING IN NIGERIAN TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS – DEAN STUDENT AFFAIRS, PROF. ACHEBE
Government have been urged to adopt a bitwise approach towards the workability of online learning and e-teaching in Nigerian tertiary institutions.
These were the assertions of the UNIZIK Dean Student Affairs, Prof. Chinonso Achebe, during a chat UNIZIK FM
Prof. Achebe stated that much of the needed infrastructure for full implementation of online/e-teaching in Nigeria is grossly insufficient, however in the event of impracticality of full blown implementation, bitwise approach is advocated to cushion the effect of unavailable or limited technical capacity and infrastructure needed for its actualisation.
The Professor of Mechanical Engineering posited that with the adoption of the bitwise approach, the transition would have been effected without a steep shock that could have been occasioned by a sudden switch. He also emphasized on the need for government to provide the necessary infrastructure which although are quite capital intensive are needed to change and redirect the course of tertiary education in Nigeria.
