STRENGHTENING OF THE MICTU

In order to reposition the Management, Information and Communication Technology Unit (MICTU) of Nnamdi Azikiwe University to take up the challenges resulting from the university’s increasing reliance on ICT for its processes, the Vice Chancellor, Prof Charles Esimone FAS, has  identified the need for staff development in the unit.

Knowing that large quantities of sensitive data will be generated and stored virtually, a staff of the unit, Mr Ekene Ezeasor has been enrolled in a Cyber security university in India to enable him acquire skills required to securely protect our institution’s data in the increasingly volatile cyber environment.

Earlier, Engr. Dr. Azubuike Aniedu and Engr. Ralu Ojukwu had been enrolled in Huawei academy at the instructors level who after certification will act as instructors and guides for our students who are interested in obtaining ICT certifications in different areas from the academy. This is part of a partnership between the Huawei and Nnamdi Azikiwe University. The Vice chancellor believes that this collaboration with Huawei will improve in our graduates the transferable skills required to be successful in the 4th Industrial revolution and make them more employable globally because the fourth industrial revolution is all about ICT.

More of the unit’s staff will in due course be sent to undergo various skills strengthening trainings and certification. Selection will always be based on dedication to duty, passion for excellence and desire for success.
