UNIVERSITY DESCRIBED AS SYSTEM CREATED TO SOLVE SOCIETAL PROBLEMS – UNIZIK VC, PROF. ESIMONE

The University has been described as a system created for the purpose of identifying and proffering solutions to societal problems.

These were the assertions of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Charles Esimone FAS, during the one-year anniversary celebration held at the University’s Council Chamber.

Prof. Esimone stated that a University is not intended to be an island onto itself or be engrossed only in scholarships but should serve the purpose of impacting positively on its various public. He stated that part of the work of the University is to ensure a symbiotic relationship between the University and Industry which will strengthen and orchestrate the pursue of product-oriented research.

The Professor of Biopharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Microbiology also said that when the cord of unity and collaboration is developed between University and Industry, there would be transfer of knowledge to the industry for the benefit of the society. He also said that he intends to achieve University/Industry relations by creating an enabling environment for all staff to work on new ideas and develop new frontiers for the greater societal gains.
