Update of Information on the Death of our student Francis Chinedu Mmadubuobi

The University Community and the general public may recall that our dear student Francis Chinedu Mmadubuobi, 400 level student of the Department of Microbiology slumped on Saturday July 21, 2018 and died during a basketball game with his fellow students.
The University Medical Centre where he was taken to immediately he slumped stated that he had died before arrival at the Centre as he did not have any pulse, blood pressure and no heart rate. The Medical Personnel (Doctor and Nurse on duty) further decided, as a matter of emergency, to take him to the Teaching Hospital at Amaku, where he was pronounced dead.

Some students of our University, especially his friends and class mates allege that the University Medical Centre did not do enough to resuscitate him; insisting that he was still alive when they brought him to the Medical Centre.
Deeply saddened by the circumstance of this death and the surrounding controversies, the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Joseph E. Ahaneku, FAS has instituted a four man investigation panel to further unravel the true position and circumstances of the death of this young promising boy. They are as follows:
a) Prof. Victor Onyiaorah – Pathologist
b) Dr. Emma Onwubuya – Cardiologist
c) Dr. Onyi-Ogelle – Lawyer
d) Mr. Amechi Makassi – Sport Director

The University Management commiserates with the family of the deceased and assures that all necessary actions will be taken in the overall interest of the University Community, especially our dear students.
May the gentle soul of Francis Chinedu Mmadubuobi rest in the Lord, Amen.
